This class teaches a practical, systematic approach to evaluating land for development so students can identify opportunities, avoid costly mistakes, and advise clients with confidence. Through real world case studies and current Washington housing legislation, students learn how zoning, site conditions, and market forces affect what can realistically be built and how to make informed go- or no-go decisions.What students will learn:
Instructor, Jeff McCann
Jeff McCann is an affiliate instructor at the University of Washington, a real estate broker, and a land use consultant. He holds dual master's degrees from UW in Real Estate and Construction Management, which gives him a strong foundation in land use and development. Jeff has helped acquire, entitle, develop, and sell over 1,000 acres of land in the Puget Sound region and 1,000+ acres more statewide. While he has broad development expertise, he also specializes in Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and regularly teaches classes on the topic. He is the owner of Outdoor Perspectives LLC, offering land use planning and development consulting services.
