Description

The need for missing middle housing has never been more apparent in the South Sound. In response to the lack of housing inventory and affordable housing, decision makers are looking at housing alternatives, resulting in changes to local zoning laws. One way elected officials have addressed  the housing issue is by allowing homeowners to construct Accessory Dwelling Units, also referred to as ADUs.

Join TPCAR at the 2nd Quarter General Membership Meeting as we discuss all things ADUs.

TPCAR Lobbyist Jim Henderson will [provide a high-level overview of bills passed in the recent legislative session to allow ADUs, as well as what other local jurisdictions are approaching the topics of ADUs.

Tacoma Deputy Mayor Kristina Walker will provide an update on Home in Tacoma, the City's approach to zoning changes.

Chip Vincent, Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of Renton, will present on their Permit Ready ADU (PRADU) program, the gold standard for cities.

Elliott Barnett, Senior Planner for the City of Tacoma, who will discuss permitting processes, specifications, etc.

Ken Miller, Founder and CEO of DADU Homes will discuss how accessory dwelling units can add value for TPCAR Members and their clients.
